Support for Caledon Businesses – #LoveLocalCaledon

The new federal rent subsidy program is now available. The Town of Caledon will be sending a direct email to all businesses in their directory, share on their LinkedIn groups and add it to the next newsletter which will be distributed early next week.

Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS): https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/subsidy/emergency-rent-subsidy.html

Canadian businessesnon-profit organizations, or charities who have seen a drop in revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of their commercial rent or property expenses, starting on September 27, 2020, until June 2021.

This subsidy will provide payments directly to qualifying renters and property owners, without requiring the participation of landlords.

Anyone eligible for the base subsidy, may also be eligible for lockdown support if their business location is significantly affected by a public health order for a week or more.

Other (new) subsidies available:

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) – has been extended: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/subsidy/emergency-wage-subsidy.html

Covering up to 65% of an employee’s wages for qualifying eligible employers, with this subsidy rate in effect until December 19, 2020. The CEWS is available until June 2021.

Property Tax and Energy Cost Rebate: https://www.ontario.ca/page/businesses-get-help-covid-19-costs

For businesses that were required to shut down or significantly restrict services due to provincial public health measures (modified Stage 2 restrictions or categorized as control or lockdown) can apply for rebates, provided in the form of grants, to help with their fixed costs.

Main Street Relief Grant (for PPE): https://www.app.grants.gov.on.ca/msrf/#/  – this grant is commercial business focused i.e. restaurants, accommodation, retail etc
