Luminaria
December 24th Light up the streets, Light up your driveways and walkways!
It is a longstanding tradition in Belfountain to light up the night on December 24th. Everyone is encouraged to place Luminaria candles out along their sections of the road, this usually occurs both in the Hamlet and in Caledon Mountain Estates. Light them up shortly after 5:30 pm, then enjoy the beauty of Christmas Eve. Remember to stay socially distanced and wear your mask please.
White bags are available to purchase at cost from the Belfountain Community Organization $2 for a package of 20 bags. The bags are generally placed approximately 5 feed apart, (but can be placed further apart depending on the distance you plan to cover). You will need to supply candles and sand/cat litter for inside the bags. The sand/cat litter serves as s weight to hold the bag in place and anchors the candle. Tea light candles or slightly larger ones are ideal.
