Have Your Say – Town of Caledon and Region of Peel Official Plan Review

The Town of Caledon is creating a new Official Plan – a road map for the next 20+ years. It will guide development, housing, transportation, employment, facilities and more. Our new Plan will also embrace Caledon’s community charm while ensuring we remain progressive.

An Official Plan (OP) is a policy document that guides the short and long-term land use development in the Town. These policies are necessary to promote orderly growth and compatibility among land uses and the environment.

We are making changes to the OP because The Provincial Planning Act requires municipalities to update their OPs every 5 years and complete a full revision every 10 years. Caledon is doing both! During this process, we will complete a strategic update to the OP so that it is consistent with Provincial and Regional legislation and policy plans, as well the OP will be reformatted to make the document more user friendly.

Future Caledon – Our Official Plan is the Town’s Official Plan Process. Our work is divided into 5 focus areas dealing with topics such as: Technology, Transportation and Infrastructure; Tourism, Heritage, Healthy Communities and Culture; Natural Resources and Agriculture; Growth, Settlement, Housing and Employment; and Climate Change. These focus areas align with the Region of Peel’s Official Plan review process. Through an iterative process, Town staff actively provide input and comments on the Region’s work.

We want to inform and connect with our community and stakeholders throughout this process. future.caledon.ca/official-plan-review/brainstormers/help-us-vision-future-caledon

Our website, future.caledon.ca, will allow residents and stakeholders to stay engaged in the process. This is an opportunity to comment on projects, ask questions, and tell your story about what makes Caledon a great place to live. The site also lists important dates, such as our satellite office times, consultation meetings on specific topics, and locations across Town where our staff will be available in-person to answer questions and record your comments.
