Emergency in Ontario Rally – May 14 – Seeking Endorsements

Dear fellow climate/environment campaigner,
We at Environmental Defence, along with a broad coalition of groups, are
planning an environment-themed rally at Queen’s Park to make a big
splash ahead of the provincial elections and demonstrate that the
environment is a key election issue!
FB Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/557419048938469/ [1]

We’re bringing our various issues together to show all politicians
that Ontarians want a government that will take immediate action to
bring down emissions, protect biodiversity, and build sustainable
communities.

The rally organizing coalition includes Climate Voice (itself a
coalition consisting of groups such as Fridays for Future and labour
organizations), David Suzuki Foundation, Canadian Association of
Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) Ontario, Ontario Climate Emergency
Campaign, and many others.

The next few months will set the course for Ontario’s climate policies
and natural spaces for years to come.

We want to ensure we are doing everything we can to make an impact.
Will you join us?
We would be happy for you to simply show up on the day of or your
group/organization can endorse the rally. This involves sending the
event to your Ontario email list, posting the event to your social media
channels, and encouraging your members to attend. Your organization
will be listed as an “endorser” on the event page and call-out. You
can see the current call-out below.
If you are interested in getting a reminder about the rally closer to
the day, or endorsing the rally, then please fill out this Google Form
[2].
In any case, we thank you for everything you’re doing for the planet!
Sincerely,The Emergency in Ontario Team

Call-out:
Emergency in Ontario: Rally for Climate, Communities and Nature!
Date: Saturday, May 14th

Time: 1pm

Location: Queen’s Park, 111 Wellesley St West (south lawn), Toronto

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/557419048938469/ [1]
Ontario’s environment is under threat.
Greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise again, protections for nature
are being dismantled, and mega projects are encroaching on communities.
This spring we have a chance to choose another path – one that
prioritizes people and the planet.
In the lead up to the provincial election, show your support for a
flourishing, low-carbon Ontario that offers good green jobs, prioritizes
our collective health, and respects Indigenous rights.
Let’s come together and make it clear that we want a government that
will take immediate action to bring down emissions, protect
biodiversity, and build sustainable communities.
You’ll also hear a range of inspiring speakers and performers!
Names will be announced soon.
This is a family friendly event.
Accessibility info will be added shortly.
